Wangiog was designed by Karishma Banu J, Komala S and Keerthana V, students of MSc. in Fashion Design and Management from JD School of Design, Bengaluru for JD Design Awards 2023. The high-street fashion collection paid tribute to the Korean band BTS and the designs are inspired by the traditional Korean garment – ‘Hanbok’. The word ‘Wangiog’ denotes luxury in Korean, while ‘Wangi’ means a Korean prince. Keeping the essence of royalty and high quality in mind the young fashion designers named their work ‘Wangjog’ which provides elite Korean vibes. The concept of their designs revolves around, “First love Yourself” as nobody else will until you show that love to yourself. When it comes to love, we all believe that it is all about giving and accepting others. Even in novel and films we see love affection, care, sacrifice for the people we love, but where is the love and acceptance we give to ourselves? Keeping this in mind they created high-street fashion for men which justifies the perception of self-love by defining the stereotype about colour and silhouette.
