I never teach my pupils, I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn

Echoing the philosophy of the quote by Albert Einstein, JD Institute of Fashion Technology provides its students with a holistic approach to learning, which includes taking them outside the four walls of the classroom.

On 31st August 2019, the students of Visual Merchandising Weekend Batch of 2019 were taken on a field trip to Garuda Mall, Magrath Road, accompanied by their Class Mentor,
Ms. Niveditha Vijayanand. The trip aimed to help students gain hands-on understanding on the elements required to create a breathtaking visual representation of a brand in its displays.

The students observed the window displays, fixtures, lighting options along with
customers’ reaction to the window and store displays. Through this exercise they were able to relate it to the modules they covered in their course. Apart from observing, the students were guided about the job profile of Visual Merchandiser by a few cordial Visual Merchandisers.

Mr. Satish, in-store VM at ONLY and also an alumni of student of JD Institute of Technology,  gave a detailed explanation of how they arrange the various display sections, the frequency with which it changes, the tips to keep in mind while doing so.

After providing them with the requisite inputs and guiding them through the exercise, the students were then made to conduct the research on their own. They collected a visual data and came back with a detailed understanding of the concept of Visual Merchandising, which they will be able to apply to the modules thereafter. The trip gave the students a fun learning experience and a newfound eye for detail which will be a very important quality they will utilize in their future careers.
