JD Design Awards 2022 Bangalore edition witnessed the collection The Irazu Women curated by aspiring designers Likitha M and Madhura Gowda. The inspiration of the collection is volcanic eruptions, the spectacular display of light and strength. The beauty and energies in volcanoes have always inspired the two designers.

The designers through their collection aim to inspire women to unleash their bold and beautiful side. The pathway chosen for The Irazu Women collection is ‘Inspire a group’ with the theme Sync with nature. The fabric used for the garments are georgette and the method of printing is screen printing. The texture of the volcano, the colours of the magma to ashes are incorporated in the garments. The collection consisted of nine ensembles and each of the pieces are unique and mind-blowing.

Since the unveiling of the theme of JD Design Awards 2022, it has been an adventurous journey for the budding designers. They came up with various ideas finally hooking with the concept of showcasing a woman’s power by taking inspiration from volcanoes. They were thrilled by the chance to experiment with the dramatic colours because of their inspiration. As they started the process of curating garments and taking decisions on the styling aspect, they found that the most challenging element was finding a location that prints well so that their designs are not compromised.

The designers with their knowledge opted for digital printing initially. However, the process of design is an ever evolving purpose and not every time things go according to the plan. Due to the lack of printing facilities, they switched to screen printing. The printing procedure took two-weeks after which the designers started working on their fabrics and curated ensembles for the JD Design Awards 2022.
