Rings – Future Origin – JD Annual Design Awards 2017

Product Name: Rings
Students Name: Sridivya Dasari and Monica Jain

The central theme of the product – Rings, is earth. The product is made out of bamboo ply, bamboo rings and chips, MDF, Resin(Non toxic resin liquid is mixed with hardener in 2:1 ratio), pigments. The product comprises of side table and a pedestal light and a bed backrest. It is a square side table which has 8mm laser cut in the center by filling with bamboo rings of 8mm and covered with resin. The crack design on the product gives it an earthy look. Rings are used to make the lamp shade of 1’. Along with the aesthetics it also has functional value, as the storage has been given with the partition, it can also be used as note pad. The same concept is followed on bed backrest as well.
