Pikorua was designed by Chandana B H, Asha G, Lingston I, Shelly Goyal, students of MSc. in Fashion Design and Management at JD School of Design, Bengaluru for JD Design Awards 2023. The streetwear Spring/Summer Collection represents friendship through garments that have been incorporated with macramé. The main focus of the collection was characterized by comfortable ready-to-wear, with colourful cords, knots and fringes, and macramé patterns. The collection caters to both women and men from the Gen-Z Group belonging to the upper-middle class in a fashionable metropolitan city. The ‘Pikorua’ is a famous symbol of friendship in the Maori tribe of New Zealand. It represents journey of life, friendship, connection of people and joining of different cultures. The whole concept was to showcase friendship of the world using macramé knots into ready-to-wear design.
