Pertinacious is designed by A Allison Gomes and Vuyyala Pooja, students of BSc. in Fashion and Apparel Design at JD School of Design powered by JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Bengaluru for JD Design Awards 2023. Satish Gujral, an Indian modern artist, architect, muralist, painter, sculptor, and interior designer. His well-known works, which are referred to as ‘partition paintings,’ were created at the time of the partition of India. He lost his ability to walk and hear as a result of an accident when he was 8 years old. Despite his limitations, he managed to overcome his loneliness and a melancholy mood by viewing it as a challenge and immersing himself in his artwork. While looking for well-known Indian artists who had accomplished much, the young fashion designers came across the profile and works of the renowned artist known as ‘The Leonardo Da Vinci of India.’ They chose to go over his entire life narrative and distil it down to the key moments in order to pay him a proper respect. Although he had faced many challenges in his life, he nonetheless had the capability and capacity to weather the various storms. His major characteristic that motivated them was their resolve to overcome difficulties of the daily life. The fact that he frequently changed careers simply because he got tired with things quickly was another quality that motivated the young talents. In their collection ‘Pertinacious,’ they tried to capture his life and various professions of the artist through the silhouettes and colours.

The collection won the Most Intriguing Collection Award.
