“Some people look for a beautiful place, others make a place beautiful” – Hazrat Inayat Khan.

The Interior design students of JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Cochin along with faculty, Mr. Cyriac went on an outdoor study trip, on the streets of Fort Kochi. The objective of this trip was to let them sketch perspective drawings by observing real time spaces to get a better understanding of the subject.

Perspective is the art of representing three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface so as to give the right impression of their height, width, depth and position in relation to each other. It lets people perceive space and objects in the drawing.
It conveys a series of views. The drawings depend mainly on four interconnected criteria: horizon line, distance from the picture plane to the object, the distance from the station point to the object and cone of vision.

The students were asked to observe and sketch the exteriors of various buildings in the area. The students were taught about drawing perspectives which will help their prospective clients understand the look of the final outcome.
