Pep Talk for jewellery Design students

A career as a jewellery designer enables you to combine your creative talent along with some business skills. JD Institute of Fashion Technology always believes in giving the right kind of industry exposure to its students before letting them enter the market. This time the Diploma in Jewellery design students had a pep talk with Ms Pragya, an entrepreneur and curator of ‘Arvaa ‘.

Arvaa is a jewellery label based in Bangalore. The brand is known for its customized elegant jewellery focusing more on gold’s, diamonds, precious metals and stones. Ms Pragya started the session by throwing some light on the possible careers one can opt for.

The breadth of a jewellery designer’s job depends on whether you work under a company or you set up your own. Either way, the most important role is to have an artistic vision along with a few communication skills. It is important for a jewellery designer to learn how to sell their own designs. Stating this Ms Pragya briefed them with the marketing strategies, smart investment tactics and billing information.

The talk session also highlighted few points such as; to value the relationship with retailers, customers and most importantly with the kaarigars. Ms Pragya also reviewed a few of the works and projects are done by the students and gave her input on the same. The session ended with few know how’s and tips that one needs to follow to become a successful jewellery designer.
