Onorm: A Tribute to Rabari Art
Onorm was designed by Neha B Khatri and M Khushi Sony, students of BSc. in Fashion and Apparel Design at JD School of Design powered by JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Bengaluru for JD Design Awards 2023. The collection paid tribute to the Rabari Art.
The Rabari embroidery gets its name from the community that engages in the craft and their origins are in Rajasthan. They have settled over time in semi desert areas of Kutch in Gujarat. This community is a nomadic pastoral community indigenous to north-west India and their embroidery is characterized by chain stitches and the use of mirrors
The collection honours Rabari embroidery while showcasing artisans work for the spring/summer men’s and women’s categories in fusion clothing inspired by the Indian market for those in their 20s. It is also the language with which women express themselves.
The collection won the Unique Prêt Wear Collection Award.
