Met Gala 2021 is going to be a two-part exploration of American Fashion. The first part of the exploration will be held on the 13th of September, 2021. The theme is ‘In American: A Lexicon Of Fashion’.
This theme was chosen to celebrate and enhance American fashion. With the on-going pandemic, many have falsely stated that the end of American fashion is here. In order to prove that American fashion is an ever thriving world, the Costume Institute has consciously chosen this theme, despite the politics that are being involved. Though American fashion has suffered huge loss during this on-going pandemic, there is no sign of giving up. Through this theme, it seems like American fashion is going through a renaissance with young designers at the vanguard of discussion covering diversity, inclusion, sustainability and conscious creativity. The theme is heavily focused on contemporary designs.
Met Gala 2021 will be a movement of American Fashion, proving that the world is thriving and alive. This Met Gala will be Chaired by Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman and Naomi Osaka. The guest list seems like an interesting one, as so far the confirmed guests are of some well known and recently gained popularity social media stars, James Charles, Addison Rae, Charlie D’Amelio, along with the ever young Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian.
