Memoir was designed by Rishmrita Boruah, Lalthakimi and Roshni Devi, students of MSc. in Fashion Design and Management at JD School of Design powered by JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Bengaluru for JD Design Awards 2023. The garments pay tribute to the weavers of Northeast India through a fashion collection that celebrates their craftsmanship, promotes their artistry, and highlights the cultural significance of their work. It draws inspiration from the traditional textiles of the Northeast through the rich colours, intricate patterns, and its unique motifs, which will serve as a foundation for the design aesthetic. By merging traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, the collection will not only showcase the beauty of Northeast India’s weaving traditions but also create a platform for these talented artisans to thrive.
