With great pride, we would like to announce that Afreen Shaikh’s design entry for the 4th Edition of DLF Emporio Design Awards 2015-16 has been nominated under the category of ‘The People’s Choice Award’. Afreen’s design is inspired by the vintage ‘Czech’ crystal perfume bottle, made in Czechoslovakia.

Launched in 2012, the DLF Emporio Design Awards was created with an idea to encourage and support young, innovative and next-gen talents in the world of fashion design.The prestigious Awards saw design entries from various Indian and International fashion schools. This year, the young aspiring designers had to draw inspiration from the vintage glamour of black and white. Gaurav Gupta, India’s leading fashion designer shortlisted Top 26 Design Entries for the Grand Finale to be held in Feb 2016.

On being asked about her personal fashion aesthetics, Afreen said, “I always prefer to keep things simple, classy and yet stylish”. She further adds, “Fragrance is the most powerful essence. With Vintage as the theme, I decided to take perfume bottle as my inspiration. There is always a hidden story behind a vintage perfume bottle. The innate structural forms of the bottles have always intrigued me and I have translated them into my design”.

She thanks her mentors, Paramita Mitra and Maurizio Grioli , who encouraged her to take up this challenge.
