Makeup Can Create Wonders: Special Effects Makeup Session with Kryolan

JD Institute of Fashion Technology endeavours to conduct extra curriculum activities for the Diploma in Makeup Artistry students, giving product knowledge and techniques to execute trending makeup looks.

These workshops are conducted by Industry specialists who demonstrate best practices and prepare our jediiians to be up to date with the Industry. It is seen that a career in Special Effects Makeup Artistry is quite fulfilling for candidates who have an imaginative urge. (redzer.tv) With the emergence of digital filmmaking, these illusions and visual tricks are used to simulate the imagined events in a story or virtual world. To expose our students to various career opportunities, a Special Effect demo session was held for our current makeup course students and Alumni from a well-known makeup brand – Kryolan.

Kryolan is a Berlin-based brand which is known for its cutting-edge products and technology. The company is a place that views makeup as science and is the global production of professional makeup for TV, film, and theatre. We had Ms Shiny and Mr Sachin, the professional trainees from Kryolan who acknowledged our students about face art and prosthetic makeup application technique.

The demo was a quick mix of beauty with prosthetic makeup. Before starting the session, students were briefed upon the type of makeup, the reasons for its usage and its pros and cons, giving them in-depth knowledge about the art. They were also given a checklist of the required materials and the do’s and don’ts of its application procedures. Apart from just the bridal makeup and regular grooming classes, students got to know how to add beauty makeup with face art and special effects. Such makeup demonstration helps them to plan their conceptual and editorial shoots in future and have an array of scope in films and theatrical performances.

People say makeup can create wonders; our students saw that happening in front of their eyes. They got the chance to see how real effects look like when done for a film or a theatrical activity. The talk conducted few tips on how to work with such makeup technique and also mentioned about the different types of skin tones and colour palettes. The session was quite interactive and fruitful for our students. As one of the best institute of makeup artistry course, our aim is to prepare students to be efficient in the business and have a full understanding of the subject.
