Lagom – Future Origin – JD Annual Design Awards 2017
Award Category : Most Innovative Collection
Collection Name : Lagom
Students Names : Anamika Jaisinghani & Tasmiya Kausar
Lagom is an evening wear collection, although looks draped, is created using a simple pattern making technique called pattern slashing. It derives its concept from Julian Robert’s subtraction pattern cutting – the main difference being there is no fabric subtraction involved. The slashing technique has no definite placement of patterns and ensures there is zero wastage of fabric. The collection is inspired by the Antelope Caves of Arizona – the soft flowy textures of the caves being translated into the texture and feel of the garments. Soft interlock jersey fabric has been used that imitates the lines and textures of the caves. The collection comprises of body flattering semi-fitted silhouettes in bold colours similar to the ones in the caves, detailed with beads in varying sizes. Crafted entirely by hand, the collection encourages the work of craftsmen. The collection is presented by Anamika Jaisinghani & Tasmiya Kausar from the B.Sc Batch.
