KOCHI INTERNATIONAL FASHION WEEK 2018
The Kochi International Fashion Week 2018, was held at Casino Hotel, Willington Island, Kochi from 14th – 16th December 2018. The show had a line-up of five designers. JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Kochi was the backstage partners for the show directed by Rahul Dev Shetty and Lovele Prabhu.
The students of JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Kochi received an opportunity to be a part of the backstage co-ordination and assist well-known designers – Dr. Sanjana Jon, Hari Anand, Jules Idi Amin, Alka Hari and Uma Prajapati.
Day 1
Designer Dr. Sanjana Jon’s collection themed, “Beautiful Bashful Brides” represented the brides of today. Fabrics like French chiffon and Italian silks were used, which were encrusted with pearls and Swarovski crytals.
Khadi brand Red Sister Blue showcased casual wear collection in pink, blue and green was a dyed range with stylish silhouettes.
Day 2
The collection by designer Hari Anand named, “Inside the Atlier” portrayed his signature minimalism. The collection consisted of formal and casual wear. The materials used were Moonga tussar and silk satin based organza.
Designer Jules Idi Amin’s beach wear collection named “Wicked in Eden” showcasing resort wear with floral prints in vibrant shades. The silhouettes were bold and edgy.
Day 3
On the next day, Alka Hari, portrayed her “Poetry of Youth”, a casual wear line in linens and cottons made of simple yet elegant silhouettes in pretty pastels.
The finale show by designer Uma Prajapati of brand Upasana, showcased “The Regal Rain”. The collection portrayed a range of Ikkat cottons and Benarasi silks in beautiful drapes both for men and women.
A chance to work in close proximity with different designers and getting a chance to observe the different silhouettes, handiwork, fabrics and designs was an informative opportunity for the students.
