Archana Kamath, a Diploma student of Fashion Design, was awarded Best Concept at the JD Design Awards 2024 in Kochi for her collection, “Kawach-Atita”, showcases a powerful blend of structured wool suiting. This captivating juxtaposition symbolizes the strength and confidence of a woman while acknowledging the vulnerability that lies beneath the professional facade.

Kavach-Atita is a Autumn Winter 2024 women’s wear Pret-a-Porter collection inspired by the theme of uncovering the inner self behind the outer facade. Inspired by Bhima’s sense of duty and warrior spirit, this collection is designed as a semi formal workwear. Using a rich color palette of imperial purple, green, and burgundy to laing with the deep winter tones the core of each outfit is crafted from luxurious wool suiting fabric, ensuring durability, structure, and a professional aesthetic. The collection features tailored blazers, fitted pencil skirts trousers, and sleek sheath dresses. Each piece is designed to convey a sense of armor—strong, protective, and empowering. Each outfit features detachable elements such as fans and flowy capes made from silk organza. These delicate additions contrast with the structured sturdy base fabrics.

The fabrics and colors are chosen keeping in mind not only the theme of the collection but also the season to which it is associated. The core of each outfit is crafted from luxurious wool suiting fabric, ensuring durability, structure, and a professional aesthetic. Each outfit features detachable elements such as fans and flowy capes made from silk organza. These delicate additions contrast with the sturdy base fabrics, symbolizing the hidden layers of vulnerability and softness within each individual.The color palette used includes Imperial purple, Rainforest Green and Burgundy as representation of Bhima’s personality traits as well as its association with certain meanings.Imperial Purple: This color symbolizes royalty and dignity, reflecting the poised and commanding presence of the wearer.Green: Evoking the essence of the forest, green symbolizes growth, renewal, and a connection to nature, and addresses Bhima’s origins.Burgundy: A deep, rich hue representing ambition and a relentless drive to prove oneself, capturing the inner fire and determination of the wearer.

Kavach-Atita” is an Autumn-Winter 2024 women’s workwear collection that embodies the essence and dual nature of a rose—strong and resilient with its thorns with an inner softness. The collection combines the structured strength of wool suiting fabric with the delicate beauty of silk organza, mirroring Bhima’s strong exterior with inter softness and sensitivity. Tailored blazers, pencil skirts, wide-legged trousers, and sheath dresses are rendered in imperial purple, green, and burgundy, symbolizing royalty, renewal, and a drive to prove oneself. Detachable elements like fans and flowy capes represent the layers of personality and vulnerability beneath the professional facade, much like the rose’s layers that unfold to reveal its core. Inspired by Bhima’s journey in “Randamoozham,” this collection celebrates the unveiling of the inner self, highlighting the complexity and humanity behind the armor. Designed for modern professional women, it honors strength, resilience, and the depth within.
