The industry of Jewellery Design is witnessing paradigm shifts. There was a time when jewellery pieces of intricate designs were appreciated. But with the change in time, people have started drifting to tech inclusive jewellery. Controlling your phone with a wrist watch or ring or bracelets are just a small step that the jewellery industry has taken with an arena of massive size to explore. However, no development is possible without having the basic knowledge.

JD Institute of Fashion Technology understands the necessity of having a strong foundation. Hence each of its courses is curated with profound research. The aspirants pursuing their Diploma in Fine Jewellery Design, August 2022 batch have recently showcased their learning from three different modules of their course structure.

History of Jewellery, Foundation Drawing and Gemology are the the three modules that the Jewellery design aspirants have recently completed under the guidance of Ms Adithi MV. In the display, the students presented their entire work from every module. The History of Jewellery Design module includes the learning of different art periods and eras of history along with learning the civilization of the world.

Moreover, Foundation Drawing is all about learning the basics of sketching along with sketching different body parts and representing one’s idea of design on paper. The students get to learn line drawing, stippling, hatching and cross hatching along with playing with shadows and highlights. During the display the Jewellery design aspirants presented their books where they had worked on the illustration part.

The third module that they were taught was Diamond grading and gemology. The module helped them identify the various varieties of gemstones and closely understand the different cuts and other details necessary in jewellery design. Jewellery design aspirants presented their understanding in a good way that highlighted their learnings.

The aspiring jewellery designers showcased their learning and even clarified the queries of the visitors and their own peers. Students also explained about how these learnings will help them in their future journey. The foundation learnings help in giving a shape to the designers and build their career on it.
