Beary’s Global Research Triangle (BGRT) is India’s first Research Park with LEED Platinum certification from Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and USGBC – a nationally accepted benchmark for Green Buildings. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is the internationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance of green buildings. LEED emphasises state-of-the-art strategies for sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. It focuses on a market driven approach that promotes and measures the environmental and economic benefits of incorporating energy efficiency practices throughout a building’s lifecycle.
The study tour was scheduled on 18th June 2022, prior the completion of the services module, which deals with various, primary, and secondary services provided in all the buildings to make it habitable. The design students got the firsthand information from the company’s management team Director Mr Suttar, explaining in detail the benchmarked achieved by executing the operations, for the certification of green building like No Garbage Policy and every drop of water has been recycled, reused by maintaining the appropriate hygiene sanitation and lush green landscape in the premises. Also, Ms Saheera Banu and Mr Satish accompanied the building tour with the students and their mentor, showing the other aspects regarding the Design of the building, Orientation, Material used, Air conditioning plant, Waste-water treatment plant, Firefighting systems, Rainwater harvesting, Electric supply system, Office interiors, furniture, and Lighting Fixtures.
Students were amazed to see the humongous scale of the project and the high-class international standards maintained for the office spaces which are in high demand and the future of the silicon city.
The three hour long tour with 44 students pursuing their Msc in Interior Design and PG in Interior Design along with HOD Mr Amlan Kar proved beneficial to the students in understanding the services of the building. As future interior designers, they should be able to renovate and suggest the changes of the services designed by an Architect and installed by the contractors. The tour helped to understand these intricacies and how to step into the future of design.
