Jediiians turn style as a medium to express the impacts of pandemic. During their one week styling workshop, the students of Post Graduate Diploma in Fashion Design and Management, 2020 batch, create the best styles by adapting to the current pandemic scenario. The students have paid a lot of attention to details with respect to the kind of change that has taken place in and around with people as well as with them. (https://cashcofinancial.com/) While each one chooses their own method of dealing with the current baffled situation, they have expressed the same in their styling shoots done on themselves.
Here let’s have a look at a few themes and impacts of pandemic that have been emphasised by our students:
Exploring new hobbies and hidden talents
Post-Covid, the hustle and bustle of our daily lives have come to a halt. We now have the gift of time to explore new hobbies and unleash our various talents that we probably didn’t know we had. As we focus on ourselves, we get to do different things on a daily basis, unlike earlier where we followed a very mundane routine.
According to our Jediiian, Kajal Jain, she found herself enjoying cooking, taking care of herself with good health and skin-care routine, and the most important thing, spending ample amounts of time with friends and family. Not leaving her passion for Fashion and Designing behind, she constantly kept researching and learning. She figured that fashion ahead lives on the classic staples of, “Reuse is the name of the game for the next year or so”
Transformation and Growth
One of the most valuable takeaways during this time is the gift of time to transform and grow. Even though normal life has got us winning day to day goals, pandemic has slowed time down for us to create long term goals and work towards achieving it. Jediiian, Monica Mahala, feels, “the lockdown is making all of us stay inside and has brought us face to face with ourselves and this time we couldn’t really hide away from it”.
She has styled herself in a classy manner with an art-work accessory that explains to see the light in dark, as an opportunity that cannot go missed, where you go deep within yourself rebuilding what was broken. Just like the sacred wisdom of a snake to be reborn and transformed to face the world, with truth and a nurtured spirit, the sun and moon outside your window accompany you on this important yet unpredictable journey.
Valuing the little things in life
Fortunately or unfortunately it took us a pandemic to make us realize how happy and calm one can get when you spend more time with your loved ones and dedicate time to do the small things you have always kept aside and wanted to do. Pretty Thomas, loves the time she gets to spend with her dog and reading books, which are her goto comfort zones.
Post-Pandemic Fashion Accessories
Life during the pandemic is surely different with the addition of safety to one’s life, but it doesn’t mean that you should dress up any lesser. Adding a mask and sanitizer in your everyday style is the new necessity but let’s make it a style statement. Akshatha Rao says that it is important to Channel your Chanel with masks.
Smile behind the struggles
Life brings us its various phases, this one might have been tough, but it’s up to us to always keep shining bright and hope to never forget the different parts of our lives, be it clothing, hobbies, socializing and so much more. So let’s continue living and smile behind our masks, just like our Jediiian, Anjum Banu.
Home Workout Sessions
This pandemic has brought us closer to ourselves physically and mentally . It has made us feel the importances of our health and fitness.Even if you’re stuck at home , there are ways you can stay active and continue your workout routine .Simple workouts like brisk walking and yoga in open air /rooftops makes you feel fresher and stronger. Fitness is not about being better than someone else it’s about being better than you used to be .

Connecting on Social Gatherings with a Mask and Virtual Spaces is the New Normal!!
Getting married with masks is the ‘New-Normal’. Having just close friends and family to attend the ceremony is the #NewCool. Maintaining social distance at a wedding is the #NewTrend.
According to HP Prarthana, in a country, where marriage is considered laborious, dynamic, culturally magnanimous, with thousands of people attending. She for the first time got to witness the simple and elegant way of this laborious setting with few close friends and family.
With this tough times having to stay indoors and maintaining a safe distance, having to get engaged/married with masks and social distancing, with just close friends and family is becoming the ‘new normal’ and she gladly feels that not only did she enjoy the process, but the ones attending the ceremony did too, and termed it as “trendy and something different”.
Having 50 people in an engagement or wedding is the new norm! Stay cool and trendy!
Connecting via virtual space is the New Normal.
One would think that having to get married during the pandemic, one would miss out on most of the fun times. But, with good friends and a safe virtual zone, that space is filled too.
Having a pyjama bachelorette party in a virtual space is nothing more one could ask for.
The week-long styling workshop has seen that the pandemic has paved the way for creative exploration of fashion styling, and the students have touched upon the right areas of the various impacts of pandemic. Jediiians easily created style as a medium to express the various impacts of pandemic.
