India enjoys a unique characteristic of being a country that observes multi-cultural and linguistic diversity based on different states which further possesses varied dialects and scripts. It is a unique position which is incomparable to any other country. This assorted heritage was brought to the fore through beautiful performances by students who showcased the diversity through songs and poems in their respective mother languages that captivated the audience. A fashion show by students further elevated the programme that displayed the costumes and finery of each Indian state which was accompanied by music befitting the respective state.
The event was made interactive by a quiz show organised to test the students and faculty knowledge of languages and its origins. Interior Design Department faculty, Mr. Ranganath K. T., beautifully captured the essence of one’s mother tongue by speaking eloquently in Kannada much to the delight of the students and faculties alike.
This gathering was educational and enlightening especially in these testing times of intolerance. It was a true testament to our country’s rich heritage. India, despite its diversity is truly a country that embraces everyone in its fold. Though language, costumes and customs may differ, it is to be noted that we are citizens of one country and we must be respectful and tolerant of all.
The event was concluded by giving an ode to our wonderful nation through our national anthem.
