Isn’t it every stylist’s dream to be a part of Vogue, the International glitzy magazine? It features the best celebrity stylist’s works and fulfilling such a dream is our alumnus, Afsheen Shajahan.
Her journey started with the determination to excel in the field of Fashion Styling. She enrolled into JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Bangalore for the weekend batch while she pursued her business studies on the weekdays in order to satisfy her parent’s dreams. After the completion of her Diploma in Fashion styling course, she went ahead to do her internship at Amazon provided by the institute itself. That was the beginning of everything that she has been able to achieve today.
As she currently works at Flipkart as a Fashion Stylist, Afsheen, was always profoundly interested and intrigued to be a Celebrity Stylist. Keeping her style mantra as ‘Break the Flow’, she includes a very unusual concept in her work along with creative direction. Her style philosophy is that she prefers not to believe that, ‘An art form will be formed only by inspiration from some other sources’ but instead she aspires to create something versatile and unique that leads to become an inspiration.
Few of her best works are shown below with the expression she adds to the details and creativity to each.
Flower-Glass
Afsheen plays around the most edgy creatives which are generally an eye catching element such as the usage of some different accessories or color pop ups. So, in the picture on the left, the concept is ‘Flower-Glass’. The theme is satisfied with the vibrant colours amidst the bust street.
The Country Side Romance
This Vogue featured picture follows the concept of a Country-side look. Afsheen has used the garments according to her theme which includes more neutral colors and long trench coats, and a head-scarf to give a complete feel to it. The location and the whole vibe of the style is brought out so subtly and beautifully.
Fashion of the 1960s
Her style has also traveled through many other cover pages. This particular retro style has been featured on the cover page of the International magazine, Picton. Her concept was ‘Girls of 60s’. To entice the overall concept she has used the early 60s european style which includes more of peter-pan collars and puffed sleeves. The relevant with- the time hairdo did complete justice to the look.
Shades
This picture featured in Vogue , uses Afsheen’s concept of beauty of Shades. Creating this style, she speaks through it that, regardless of one’s complexion, the inner beauty is what makes you colourful. She details her expression through vibrant colours to symbolise the true meaning of beauty.
Till the Dawn
This completely high end professional level editorial styling is embracing. This beautiful piece above with the concept of ‘Till the Dawn’ manages to be featured in Vogue Italia and also in the Elegant Magazine for the April 2020 edition. She adheres to the concept by using minimal clothing along with hair and make up.
We are proud that our alumnus has made a mark in the industry with her sheer caliber and talent as well as the level of upgraded creativity and magic she adds to styling. Doing full justice to ‘ Imagination’ which is what we as an institution believe. Afsheen Shajahan, keep up the spirit. Truly keeping our flag soaring high.
“You cannot forget from where you started. My journey as a stylist began on the very first day when I’d stepped in at JD Institute for my diploma programme in Fashion Styling. Throughout the course, I explored myself and found my own individuality. It’s important for a stylist to know a little about Make-up and Photography alongwith styling. The curriculum was quite engaging and a mix of everything. I cherish My Journey at JD forever and I will be a citizen of Imagination forever”.
