Mumbai, September 26, 2024 — JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Bangalore is proud to announce that Ms Shruthi Jain, a student of Fine Jewellery Design, has secured 1st Rank at the prestigious National Jewellery Awards (NJA) 2024’s, “Student of the Year Award”, organised by the All India Gems and Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC).  It’s the fourth year in a row at the NJA recognition for JD Institute, which solidifies its position as the premier institution that helps nurture future design talents. On this prestigious occasion, Mr Yogesh Dalal, Trustee and Ms Payal Dala, Director- JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Mumbai were there to support Ms Shruthi Jain. 

An important part of Shruthi’s success goes back to her mentor, with immense gratitude she said, “I’m grateful for Rupali Ma’am’s support in my journey. It was her involvement in helping all of us learn, as well as encouragement and guidance in improving our skills and believing in ourselves. This award reflects her dedication as a mentor. I am indeed grateful to JD Institute for bringing us this kind of mentor whose effort is always for us to grow in designing and in life.”

Beating the trend of taking undue advantage of cultural heritage, Ms Shruthi was an award-winning designer who carried out her design process with creativity, dedication, and technical skills. She adopted a combination of tradition and modernity to arrive at stunning pieces that reflect her very special design approach, using ethically sourced materials. The gorgeous details of techniques as well as the specific materials in use further prove that Ms Shruthi was a trendsetter for innovative design in fine jewellery.  

Under the visionary leadership of our Managing Trustee, Mr. Nealesh Dalal, Director Sandra D’Souza, and the relentless efforts of faculty members like Ms. Suma, the jewellery design program continues to foster the growth of students, preparing them to excel in the industry. Their endeavour has been the prime factor in instituting an inspirational run of NJA success at JD Institute which has ranked first since 2021. The institution, with its commitment to excellence, has managed to remain at the top for four consecutive years, in 2021 being the second-rank, while in 2022 it was qualified as runners-up, and as first ranker both in 2023 and 2024. Such consistency may well be a testament to the fact that such talented designers are being developed who can leave their mark in national competitions. 

As a proud member of the All India Gems and Jewellery Domestic Council since May 2024, JD Institute emphasizes innovation and sustainability in design education and maintains a strong focus on professional development and industry engagement. The award ceremony at Jio World Centre, Mumbai, has marked a milestone for Ms Shruthi Jain and JD Institute of Fashion Technology.
