JD Institute of Fashion Technology Hyderabad Brings Bunai Utsava to celebrate Indian Handloom Heritage

JD Institute of Fashion Technology Hyderabad is organising a three-day long event ‘Bunaai Utsav- Ek Ubharata Safar’ to celebrate and acknowledge the rich art, culture and handloom heritage of India.

Bunaai means to weave and it has been an integral part of our lifestyle. In the old days, we all must have noticed our grandmothers and mom having a good time while weaving or knitting a piece of decor or attire. That is a minute picture, on a large scale, many local weavers and craftsmen mass produce hand woven fabrics of which Khadi and cotton are the most recognised ones. Every state has its own handloom heritage and the state of Telangana has revered textiles like Ikkats from Pochampally, Nayraynpet cotton and silk.

The Indian handloom heritage and textile culture once reigned but with the advent of technology went underappreciated. To preserve the uniqueness of the nation’s offering and acknowledge the local artisans, craftsmen, and their undisputed love for keeping age-old art alive, JD Institute is looking forward to entering into a celebration galore.

What all is there?

In the three day event, design aspirants of JD Institute of Fashion Technology will put forward a show. Block your dates for the 11th, 13th, and 20th of March 2022 as JEDIIIANS come to your favourite places to give you a sneak peek of local art and culture.

What all is there?

1. Live Fashion Show:

After almost two years of standstill, we are coming back on our feet and bringing you a unique fashion show. To acknowledge Indian textile heritage and promote the Indian hard woven fabric, Khadi, and Telangana’s local fabrics, design aspirants will exhibit their curation at three different venues on three different dates.JD Institute of Fashion Technology Hyderabad Brings Bunai Utsava to celebrate Indian Handloom Heritage handloom - JD Institute of Fashion Technology Hyderabad Brings Bunai Utsava to celebrate Indian Handloom Heritage 4 - JD Institute of Fashion Technology Hyderabad Brings Bunai Utsava to celebrate Indian Handloom Heritage

With a unique twist, adopting modern cuts and eccentric mix and match of silhouettes, the first fashion show will take place inside the metro rail on the 11th March 2022. As the Hyderabad metro rail will traverse its journey from Ameerpet Metro Concourse to Hitech City, the students will showcase their design sensibility using traditional fabrics.

Moreover, on 13th and 20th March 2022, Galleria Mall Panjagutta and Premia Mall, Hyderabad, will provide the platform to our JEDIIIANs to celebrate the glorious handloom heritage of the nation through a fashion show.

2. Interior Design Display:

Hyderabad has always been a cauldron of rich art and culture- it has been both a fusion hub because of the various historic moments and a place paving a pathway for pure craftsmanship.

During the three-day-long event, the interior oriented design aspirants will pay an ode to Dhangar Community and are aiming to bring the people face to face with Cheriyal painting and Macrame art.

Cheriyal painting is one of the most sought after art styles in the Telangana state. It has an influence of Kalamkari, Deccani and Kakatiya art and is rich in local motifs representing and telling stories from famous mythologies.JD Institute of Fashion Technology Hyderabad Brings Bunai Utsava to celebrate Indian Handloom Heritage handloom - JD Institute of Fashion Technology Hyderabad Brings Bunai Utsava to celebrate Indian Handloom Heritage 5 - JD Institute of Fashion Technology Hyderabad Brings Bunai Utsava to celebrate Indian Handloom Heritage

3. Workshop:

Workshop helps us establish a connection as well as give hands-on experience to the individuals in understanding the technical know-how of any process.

Block printing looks like an approachable printing technique with its rich use in textile and handloom industry, however this art has its own intricacies. In order to give a glimpse of the same, workshops on block printing will be held at Galleria Mall and Premia Mall, Hyderabad on 13th and 20th March 2022, respectively. Conducted by our own JEDIIIANs, the workshop will be fun and informative, helping the individuals understand the methods used in block printing.JD Institute of Fashion Technology Hyderabad Brings Bunai Utsava to celebrate Indian Handloom Heritage handloom - JD Institute of Fashion Technology Hyderabad Brings Bunai Utsava to celebrate Indian Handloom Heritage 1 - JD Institute of Fashion Technology Hyderabad Brings Bunai Utsava to celebrate Indian Handloom Heritage

JD Institute of Fashion Technology Hyderabad is looking forward to creating a good rage through their three day event, Bunaai Utsav- Ek Ubharata Safar. Metropolitan cities are known for embracing the new culture on a whim. Now is the time to go vocal for local and turn people’s heads towards our weavers, artisans and craftsmen community.

Indian art and culture heritage, especially handloom and textile industry need a zealous jolt to get back on its feet and reach the glorious stage once it dominated. Moreover, going vocal for local also brings sustainability in the picture as the regional craftsmen practice indigenous methods that are safe and healthy for the environment. At JD Institute of Fashion Technology, design aspirants are prepared to acknowledge the local art and tradition and find their creativity derived from the world. (Valium)
