Before getting into what Georgian College is all about, Ms. Tampal spoke about why Canada is such a great country to study. She added, “We are really the best as far as post-secondary education is concerned. Not only are we the best but we are also very cost effective compared to what education would cost an international student in other countries which is why we have gone into this collaboration with JD”.

She termed this collaboration as a testimony to the fact that the interior design program of JD is an amazing program as it is really true to what they say it is: very industry relevant & top notch. It is also the only diploma that their academic team has considered to be equivalent to being granted advanced standing into year three of their program.

This collaboration was considered to give students a chance to come to Canada to study further as JD got a lot of feedback from students on wanting to have a pathway to study in Canada.

THE PATHWAY IN BRIEF

If a student has completed JD’s three-year Diploma in Interior Design plus has done 2 online transition courses in India it makes them eligible to get an advanced standing into year three of Interior Design program at Georgian College. After graduation, students will also be eligible for a three-year post-study work permit.

WHY DID JD choose GEORGIAN COLLEGE TO BE THE ONE THEY WANTED TO COLLABORATE WITH?

A public college in Canada is funded by the government and has some amazing facilities and infrastructure.

Apart from this, one of the values of JD is the focus on skills and employability which is the paramount here and is a value that Georgian College shares with JD.

Georgian College is obsessed with skills and employability in everything. They have been number one in employment and in the employer satisfaction rating of their graduates.

Specifically, for the Interior Design degree, they’ve got a rating of 93%.

As an Interior Designer in Canada, you need to be registered to be able to practice your craft and this program is one of the few that is acknowledged by the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) which benefits students as they automatically become registered as an Interior Designer.

WHY GEORGIAN COLLEGE?

An iconic college with a 100 acre campus, Georgian college is hotbed of creativity. In addition to the fact that their program is considered the benchmark of the industry, the place that students will go to is more like a university in the way it’s structured and the way they behave.

They are able to give their students a lot of feedback as they have realized that there really isn’t any substitute for personal feedback so most of their classes are small with a capacity of 24 students which exposes them to one on one time with faculty members.

A paid 4-month work term also allows the students to work legally in the industry before they’ve finished studying.

As for the campus, they have a parking space that can accumulate 2000 cars while having 12000 students on campus, 28000 part-time students and 2 and a half thousand international students.

They also have a 2-storey library, a 2-storey fitness center, 4 basketball courts, student lounges, a health clinic, and many more. Their computer labs are with the most current versions of the programs used by employers at the given time.

They have 15 buildings all interconnected with a lot of student services free of costs like personal and academic counseling as well as career supports to make you ready for the industry.
