JD IMAGINATION JOURNEY LONDON-PARIS September 2019

The JD Imagination Journey was a collective initiation for Fashion and Interior students of JD Institute of Fashion Technology, South in collaboration with London College of Fashion, Ual and Chelsea College of the Arts, Ual respectively. Apart from London, the itinerary also included the city of love, romance and fashion – Paris.

The recent visit coincided with the autumn season in London that witnesses a plethora of events revolving around Art, Design, Fashion, Interior, Architecture, Food etc. The students, accompanied by their faculties and management visited London Design Festival, an annual event that showcases the work of artists and designers from all over the world who take centre stage with their innovation and style at multiple venues in London. Students also attended the Queer Fashion Show, an event that showcases gender-fluid outfits presented by LGBTQ+ designers as a representation of identity and expression in all its forms.

They also attended London Beauty Week at the Camden market and were a part of multiple events conducted by brands like Dior, Chanel, Fendi etc. to showcase their latest products. The students, faculties and management also experienced makeover sessions at the Beauty Week.

The management team received an opportunity to attend the prestigious London Fashion Week 2019, an immersive innovative experience that involved Designer shows, Creative Installations, the discovery LAB: an experiential space where fashion meets art, technology and music along. The event also entailed Positive Fashion Designer Exhibition where the creative work of progressive designers explores the most compelling stories around sustainability, community and ethics.

The London Interior Show held at Chelsea Harbour Hotel was an opportunity of a lifetime for the Interior students and faculties to learn, explore and meet designers from around the world. The collective presented the work of upcoming designers and established brands. The students acquainted themselves with the interior designing and styling brands operating on global level. On offer were varieties of lighting, upholstery, furniture, ceramic, space displays, retail displays and latest trending products along with techniques that added to the students knowledge and information.

The Paris leg of the visit was an exploratory journey which included trips to Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Notre-Dame, ChampsÉlysées.  Everyone experienced the food, lifestyle, art, architecture, museums and various historic places. This edition of the Imagination Journey helped students understand two starkly different cities and helped them seek inspiration from its vividness, eccentricity and creativity experienced in every nook and cranny which added to the overall charm and learning.
