JD ANNUAL DESIGN AWARDS – UNTOLD STORY – HARSHITHA REDDY – INSPIRED BY MORE MANISHA CHABULA
Kononeos Kkeobjil is a collection inspired by an artisan named More Manisha Chabula. The artisan started his work at home in 2011 for his basic earning. Later he expanded as a small industry and now, he has started exporting his bags throughout the country. He has his own coconut field from where he uses the coconut shell for his bags. He cuts the pattern on the shells according to his design. He makes basic bag for the base and then arranges patterns of coconut and stitches each piece separately. These hand bags are completely hand done with lots of effort by the artisan but he is not gaining correct profit for his hard work because customers are not recognizing his creative work. Each part of the shell is being used in a very different and beautiful manner and is the inspiration behind this collection. Coconut shell motifs have been cut into different pieces and used. Denim with bleached and sodium wash fabric is used for the collection in the colour scheme of Seaworthy. Narrow pants, Waist coats, Dresses and Tops are the key pieces of the collection.
