The 11th Edition of the FDCI India Couture Week 2018 presented by Hindustan Times and Sunil Sethi Design Alliance was held from the 25th July 2018 – 29th July 2018 in Delhi.
25th July 2018 – Tarun Tahiliani opened the India Couture Week with his collection that was inspired by the mythological Greek paradise of Elysium. The set was designed with mesh structure and industrial materials to give it an outworldly experience. The collection showcased was traditional and had an understated elegance which complimented the colour palette of ivory, champagne, and sunset peach. Aditi Rao Hydari was the perfect showstopper for this brilliant couturier.

Anju Modi’s collection was inspired by the Victorian-era and the set was created to look like the outdoors of an English garden. Her colour palette was jewel tone. Kangana Ranaut was the showstopper for Modi, who wore a cream lehenga with heavily embroidered jacket.

26th July 2018 – Pallavi Jaikishan took one back in time with her collection “Nostalgia”. There were a lot of pinks and creams in the collection. There was something for everyone and they were clothes that one could easily move in, without it being too restrictive.

Falguni and Shane Peacock’s debut collection at the India Couture Fashion Week titled “Amour De Junagarh”, was a tale of two fashionable cities. The husband-wife designer duo created edgy, strong and yet glamorous collection. They had the customary feathers which are a part of all their collections and the colour palette included gold, plum purple, ivory, honey, lavender and burgundy.
Kareena Kapoor Khan was the showstopper for them and she channeled her royal avatar for the show.

27th July 2018 – Amit Aggarwal inspiration for his collection was the molecular patterns that allow caterpillars to morphe into butterflies. His out of the box thinking, attention to detail, technical innovation and sheer craftsmanship were visible in his collection. The colours of the collection were burgundy, blue, cream, champagne, black and silver, maroon, green and grey. The beautiful Shilpa Shetty who does not seem to age but just keeps getting better with time, was the showstopper for his collection.

Suneet Varma’s collection was inspired from the French art work and baroque. There were ruffles, tassels, fringes, applique work, embroidery it was a celebration on the ramp and the colour palette was subtle. His models shimmied and sashayed on the ramp and looked elegant and out of an art work just like his inspiration.

28th July 2018 – Shyamal and Bhumika’s theme was “Muse of Mirrors” which showcased fine artistry and intricate detailing in their collection. The duo is known for their work towards reviving handicrafts and artisan techniques. Kiara Advani was the showstopper for their collection and the design donned by her was in seafoam green, it was young and fun.

Rahul Mishra’s collection “Maraasim” meaning connection was about the relationship between what is man-made and nature and the inspiration was drawn from the 17th century Mughal architecture. The set was designed as a Mughal garden with greenery everywhere and had models looking regal and showing off his collection with the grace of a deer.

29th July 2018 – Reynu Tandon collection was titled “Once Upon a Dream” and dreamy it was. The voluminous skirts, delicate cholis and intricate embroidery would be a dream to lay your hands on. The colours were vibrant and subdued tones of cream, grey, blush and Yami Gautam as a showstopper looked like she just stepped out of a fairytale.

Rohit Bal closed the week with his collection titled “Guldasta” (Meaning: bouquet) which was inspired by birds and bright flowers. His genius shined through his collection which had big and small flowers and flamingoes as well. The models looked strong and wore clothes which were in the palettes of black, green, cream, red and gold. The set was an opulent red and gold which was just as flamboyant and grandiose as his collection.
