Arunima Krishnaveni CL, a BSc in Interior Design graduate, presented her visionary project “Illuminating Wellness” at the JD Design Awards 2024 in Kochi, where it gained recognition for its innovative approach to integrating natural light into healthcare design. This center is crafted with a holistic approach to healing, emphasizing the therapeutic benefits of natural light in enhancing physical, emotional, and social well-being. The facility aims to create an environment where natural light not only illuminates but also heals, fostering an atmosphere of tranquility and growth for all who enter.
The design philosophy of “Illuminating Wellness” revolves around the transformative power of natural light. Recognizing the profound impact that sunlight has on human health, the center is designed to ensure that every space is bathed in natural light. Consultation rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows and strategically placed skylights, allowing sunlight to fill the spaces and create a welcoming, serene environment. The water therapy areas are positioned to offer panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, further enhancing the therapeutic experience. By maximizing natural light exposure, the center not only elevates its aesthetic appeal but also creates a nurturing environment that supports the healing process.

The center’s layout is meticulously planned to promote functionality and comfort while integrating therapeutic spaces with communal and residential areas. Specialized therapy rooms for red light therapy and yoga are designed to optimize natural light, enhancing the effectiveness of these treatments. Communal areas, including open dining spaces and kitchens, are strategically placed to benefit from sunlight, encouraging social interaction and fostering a sense of community among residents and visitors. Additionally, residential areas are designed to maximize natural light exposure, promoting healthy sleep cycles and overall well-being. The inclusion of lush gardens offers tranquil retreats for relaxation and connection with nature, further enriching the therapeutic experience within the center.
