Soon higher secondary and senior secondary exams will get over and like every student, you must also be wondering what course to go for. The confusion is natural. With so many great scopes in varied fields and industries, taking a call for your higher education becomes exhausting. Moreover, the matter becomes even more complicated when you and your parents are not able to find a common ground.
Many students tend to pursue a particular field because their guardians/parents wanted them to. However, many times, students fall out of love with the course that they are pursuing and find their inclination towards other fields. Students know their passion, however fail to convey the same to their elders and at times follow the crowd. In such a case, no one gets to benefit from it which also brings future predicaments in their life.
Today, we will talk to all those students whose dreams do not align with their parents’ and are looking for a way to convince them to enter the field of their passion.
Here are a few tips that we can share:
1. Pitch In Creative Way:
Your parents are your well-wishers. They want the best for you, however, at times fail to notice your interest. Try convincing them for a particular course in a creative way. Go for an approach that is integral to the course subject that you want to pursue. If you want to enter the design, fashion courses, music and more, bring out your creative side and maybe give them a presentation. Just a suggestion. You can always experiment with creativity.
2. Show Your Passion:
Your parents always have a soft corner for your passion. Show them how passionate you are about your course and the dedication you would put into it. We all do passion projects. Don’t throw it under your bed or in the garage, show it to your parents. Talk about your course openly and how it is going to shape you and what the curriculum involves. We are sure that they will melt down.
3. Career Opportunities:
There are times when your parents are not aware of the career opportunities that you’ll have if you choose a particular course. Pedagogy has changed over the years. Don’t expect your guardians to understand it on their own. Talk to them and tell them about the jobs that you would be getting post the completion of your degree. Help them understand the market demand and how would you benefit from it.
4. Financial Talk:
Finances play a major role in choosing a course. If your course has a practical approach then fees are going to be a bit high but with that, the curriculum also exposes you to your future industry and market along with imparting the essential knowledge to lead into that field. Moreover, also give them a glimpse of your expected salary post the completion of your course.
5. Introducing To Influential Names:
Showing the luminaries of the field where you want to make your mark, will always help you in convincing your parents to let you take a course of your interest. If your inspiration is an acquaintance, ask them to talk to your parents and show them the scope of your course and how it will build a successful future for you.
Whenever you are taking a call about your future studies, do consider your inclination. If you are not interested in a particular course, it would bring you challenges in the long run. Your future depends on your education and learning. If you are passionate about a particular domain, you will always be determined to work and give it a new direction. Your zeal will always pull you back from monotony and help you grow every day.
