Gulabi Jaipur, Craft Restaurant is a design Showcased by Jithin Shibu,Megha Sarah Georty students of Diploma in Interior Design at JD Institute Of Fashion Technology Cochin, for JD Design Awards 2023.Megha and Jithin both studied Architecture and Town Planning as part of their Civil Engineering education. When this designing opportunity came up, they discussed the grid system and studied about Jaipur. This remarkable grid system was originally planned by Sawai Jai Singh for the city of Jaipur, making it one of the most well-planned cities since the time of the Harappan Civilization. Sawai Jai Singh, even in the 17th century, had an extraordinary vision as a city planner. Jaipur’s planning was rooted by the principles of Vastu Shastra and Shilpa Shastra, which sought to establish a harmonious relationship between the city and nature. To realize this vision, Sawai Jai Singh enlisted the expertise of the skilled architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya as his guide. Inspired by this rich history and paying tribute to Sawai Jai Singh’s legacy, we thought of giving tribute to Sawai Jai Singh by implementing this grid system for our Craft- Restaurant. By implementing the same grid system, we sought to infuse their establishment with a sense of order, balance, and connection to the environment. This thoughtful approach not only pays homage to the visionary planning of Jaipur but also creates a serene and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere within their Craft-Restaurant.
