GLOW AND GO – JD Design Awards 2024

Our design concept deals with denim as our main inspiration. In our collection, we would like to present the magic of radium colours to modern audiences. This is an amalgamation of denim along with radium colours and a classic touch. The incorporation of punk style into our collection will be done through colours and silhouette footprint. Our collection is one-of-a-kind because, while the clothes are proper for daytime wear and casual, easy style, they can transform into evening wear with ease. What’s more, each garment will have an added extra: shining bright with lights inside that create a neon effect for nighttime.

In a world of the future, the idea of radium paint denim sinks deep into fashion and social dynamics, entrenched in technological advancements. Think of a society where fashion is not just about the looks, but much about functionality and the expression of individual entities. In this world, denim garments painted with radium would serve as two-in-one pieces: they would boast aesthetic looks and be of practical use. Radium paint infused into denim could provide ambient lighting, glowing softly in the dark. It would be quite helpful in urban areas, too, where people also go out at night and thus it would provide a whole lot of added visibility and safety. Further, the use of radium paint on pieces of denim could also metaphorically symbolize the belief of society and changes in culture as well. It could be defined as man’s race for progress without which the old will be integrated with the new. The acceptance or rejection of radium-infused denim by the people of this advanced civilization may provide an insight into general attitudes toward the taking of risks, innovation, and a tendency to cling to tradition.
