On the 22nd of December 2022, the students of JD School of Design, Goa visited the Asha Mahal- a homestay for uplifting women, based out of Taleigao, Goa. The Jediiians visited the premises as a part of the Gift of Knowledge initiative.
Asha mahal is a private institution managed by an NGO that is for all the women throughout Goa. The superintendent Mrs Socorrinha Vas who now manages the place has been extremely helpful in acquiring the required permissions to visit the place. The students and faculty members of JD Goa were greeted by multiple smiling faces of women and children who reside at Asha Mahal.
As a part of the ‘Gift of Knowledge’ initiative, the students organised a fabric painting activity, where the women and children were taught how to use fabric paints and create different paintings.
For the activity, each one was handed a piece of fabric and paint along with different size brushes. They were taught how to create various colour shades, using different types of brushes and techniques of application.
Post the painting workshop, students of JD also sung carols and were joined by the women of Asha Mahal. The students also cut the cake celebrating the Christmas festivity. The noble initiative filled everyone’s heart with joy.
The jediiians who organised the fabric painting workshop as a part of Gift of Knowledge initiative are Snedan Almeida, Callista Pereira, Janice Bothelho, Sarveksha Rane, Clynne George, Beverly Almeida and Sheryl Fernandes with faculty members Ms Deepika Kargaonkar and Ms Neysa Vas.
