‘Tanisi’ was a fashion show that was organised as a part of the Navratri celebrations, which is commemorated by the Hindus across the globe. This festive season is celebrated over a period of nine nights and ten days during the season of autumn. It is celebrated for different reasons and in various parts of the Hindu Indian cultural sphere. However, as per traditional practices that have been followed over centuries, it is the post-monsoon autumn festival that is known as Sharada Navratri which is widely observed as an honour of the divine feminine Devi as known Goddess Durga. This festive season is celebrated during the month of Ashvin, as per the Hindu calendar which usually falls in the Gregorian months of September and October. The word Navratri translates to ‘nine nights’ in Sanskrit where ‘nava’ means nine and ’ratri’ means nights.
