New year has begun and so is the vigour of Jediiians who are working in the direction of achieving perfection in their design aesthetics. But on the journey of mastering the requirements of the design industry, constructive feedback is a must. JD Institute of Fashion Technology provides the platform to channelise the talent of the young designers and bring them feedback from the industry experts. Out of multiple ways, displays are an integral part to bring the fashion design aspirants face to face with market experts and industry requirements.
Recently, the Diploma in Fashion Design March 2022 batch put up a display themed on Valentine’s week. The moment someone mentions Valentine’s, our mind instantly wanders off to the colour red and all things heart. Going ahead with the same notion, the fashion design aspirants curated their ideas. They gave a renovation to the room with heart decoration and a photo booth with red colour shining across the space.
For the display the future designers showcased their learnings from the previous semester and highlighted the basics of Design Thinking and Fashion Thinking. They sketched various parts of attires and showcased the different structures of it, experimenting with the form and look of it. Some of the basic sketches included sleeves, skirts, necklines and more. On the other walls of the room, the designer’s mind worked on problem solving aspects.
To showcase their idea, the group picked on some issues and they worked on it. Be it proposing the idea of improving female safety via a small device that is portable and can be carried in the purse or pocket or transforming a classroom into a more interactive classroom or more.
Moreover, the fashion design aspirants also sketched various garments that they learned curating during their draping classes. They also draped a garment on a mannequin that received praise from all the visitors. To make the display even more interactive, the fashion design aspirants had also put up a video showcasing how they worked around the clock to get the final result for the display. Ahead of the completion of their module, the designers were also taken for an industry visit accompanied by Fashion Design faculty Ms Yassa Zubair.
The display helped the fashion design aspirants understand various perspectives of the consumer. They also explained their idea and showcased a way to give solutions to various problems and challenges that we face on a daily basis. The enthusiasm and promptness of the designers impressed the visitors who also had multiple queries.
The display helped in networking that is important for every design aspirant.
