Exploring Designs | Jediiians at Aakran – The jewellery Boutique

Our constant endeavour at JD Institute of Fashion Technology is to expand the spectrum of imagination for our students and help them broaden their horizon in their own respective backgrounds. To take this ideology forward, the students of the Jewellery Design Department were taken for a store visit named Aakran- the Jewellery Boutique.

Aakran is a designer store located in sadashivnagar, Bangalore. The boutique is known for the high end and exquisite jewellery. Mr Karan Kumar, the owner and designer of the boutique addressed our Jewellery Design course students about the craft and the jewel pieces.

During the store visit, students came across various pieces of antique jewellery, something which are unusual to find in the jewellery stores. They also saw the entire collection of Temple Jewellery and Rudraksha haar. Not only this, Mr Karan showed them elegant rings, a beautiful ‘U’ shaped peacock ring and an emerald detachable ring. They also had an opportunity to witness few gemstones which were in its purest form, like Burmese Ruby ring, pink sapphire bangle, an Emerald ring also a ‘D’ shaped diamond necklace.

It is important for the jewellery students to know the real feel and know-how of the industry. Visit the store was an experience in itself for the students. Jediiian Riya parekh stated that “It was indeed a pleasant and informative experience to witness few designs in hand which definitely sharpened our skills. I am grateful to JD Institute of Fashion Technology and our mentor Ms Surbhi Gupta for giving us this opportunity and guiding us throughout the visit”.
