“Buy less, choose well, make it last. Quality rather than quantity: That is true sustainability. If people only bought beautiful things rather than rubbish, we wouldn’t have climate change!”
—- VIVIENNE WESTWOOD —-
Designers Purnima Yashankar and Swathi Reddy created a line of contemporary Indian capsule collection called “Enthrall” which means charming, enchanting, fascinating etc. Keeping the busy schedule of women in mind and to cut down on time to coordinate outfits with accessories, the designers have created a line that can be mixed and matched to create a variety of outfits from fewer pieces. The collection has been inspired by underwater sea creatures like corals and sea slugs.
The design inspiration drawn from the corals and sea slugs have been incorporated in form of embroidery which was created using beads, stones and zari zardosi. Whereas, the ruffles, have been inspired by the frilly nature of the lettuce sea slugs. The colours used in the collection are charcoal black, cream, bottle green, peachy pink, mustard yellow and maroon.
The aim to create multiple outfit combinations within a set limit of clothes helps to reduce waste and saves time in coordinating outfits. This in turn will not only empower women to spend less time getting dressed but will enable them to spend more time pursuing their passions. When there is an overload of clothes in our collection we tend to discard the old ones which then end up in landfills. This new way of consuming and purchasing clothes will not only help women save time and money, but more importantly, it will help save our planet.
The premise of the collection is to do more with less.
