“Women must be able to get into a car without bursting their seams! Clothes must have a natural shape.”

Designers Ramanaa M and Payal Verma’s collection, “Encore Magnifique” is derived from the word encore which means repeat and the popular phrase of the 20’s c’est magnifique which means, that’s wonderful. The collection is an ode to the glorious period of the roaring twenties.
The 1920s was a period of modernization, economic prosperity, social and political change, technological advancements and the youthful euphoria post World War I. Since the women grew independent, they did not just enjoy financial freedom, but also enjoyed the freedom to dress in a more modern and casual manner. The length of the dresses grew short, styles worn by the Flappers and bobbed hairstyles were embraced by the women. The fashion of the period was a far cry from the Victorian era. It was liberation in every sense of the term.
The influence of the 1920s era was reflected in the designers collection for Autumn/Winter – 19/20. They incorporated pure twill and tweed wool, to replicate the easy flow and movement in the collection. The colours used for the collection were grey and brown to replicate the colors of the period. Pastel green is used to recreate the youthful exuberance of the woman from that period.
