Di Nature’s Pride- A Tribute To Bamboo Architecture In Mizoram
Yvonne Vanlalremtluangi Khiangte, a student of JD School of Design, Goa pursuing B.sc in Interior design showcased his project Di Nature’s Pride at JD Design Awards 2023 Goa edition. With this project, he designed a modern interior for a homestay. This idea came from the homes of the Lushai people of Mizoram, who typically build with bamboo and wood. Because they no longer live in or construct these types of homes, the younger generation doesn’t know much about homes and lifestyles.
In contrast to conventional building materials, the materials used for Di Nature’s Pride does not generate construction waste, providing a way of sustainable living. Due to bamboo’s total biodegradability and ease of regeneration, it is used as a raw material by almost all companies that focus on producing environmentally friendly products. Bamboo products are eco-friendly as long as no hazardous chemicals are added during chemical processing. It is robust, lightweight, recyclable, and quake-resistant.
The walls are made of bamboo in this project. The designer included the colors of the materials used to give it a natural look. The main material used in Di Nature’s Pride is bamboo. Natural building materials are more likely to be recyclable, reusable, or even biodegradable at the end of their useful life. A sense of connection to the natural world can also be fostered by using natural materials for both interior and outdoor design. Without hurting the environment or other living creatures, the Di Nature’s Pride will be impactful to help form a connection with the environment.
Curated by the designer Yvonne Vanlalremtluangi Khiangte, the Di Nature’s Pride is a holiday destination open to all age groups.
