December was inspirational at JD Institute of Fashion Technology and JD School of Design. The month when creativity met purpose was always full of events that highlighted skill, learning, and camaraderie. From swimming competitions to awareness programmes and enriching workshops, these are glimpses of high points.

Making Waves-Inter-Collegiate Swimming Competition

The Energetic December 4, 2024-the Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre witnessed the Inter-Collegiate Swimming Competition held by JD School of Design, Bengaluru City University. Great competitions from famous colleges, including St. Joseph’s, MS Ramaiah, and BMS Institute took place in all three styles – freestyle, butterfly, and backstroke. The day was marked by joy in athletic excellence and the spirit of sportsmen, and the participants as well as the spectators could feel their determination and joy, too.

Spreading Awareness, Saving Lives: AIDS Awareness Session

On 1st December, JD School of Design had a powerful session for AIDS Awareness Day. Some renowned doctors from Excel Care Hospital came and educated students regarding HIV/AIDS, demolishing myths and promoting prevention. The interactive format empowered the students to question, giving a culture of openness and informed action.

Tune In with Tuhin: Mastering the Art of Communication

December 11th was an excellent session on December 11th as the radio jockey and voice coach Tuhin helped the students and faculty develop their communication skills through interesting exercises in voice modulation, public speaking, and breathing techniques, thus boosting confidence and actualizing tools for authentic connection.

Design Futures Summit: Shaping Tomorrow

A very awaited summit on 17th Dec for Design Futures has brought visionary minds like Prof. Aditya Jayadas, Mr Sounak Sen Barat, and Ms Prithvi R. N. It was a discussion from Biophilic design to the fusion of tradition and innovation in Fashion and Interior Design. Such a summit left the attendees inspired to think beyond boundaries and accept transformative design practices.

Vastu Workshop: Exploration Harmony

Astrologer and Vastu consultant, Rajat Singal, led an insightful and informative workshop for our Interior Design students on 18th December. The old-world know-how with new principles by Singal explained how they bridge creativity with practicality as they put across Vastu in designing spaces that are harmonious yet productive.

Semester End Display: Fashion & Apparel Design

It culminated the month with an exhibition from 2024 A&B Batch, Fashion and Apparel Design in a fabulous manner, reflecting well their mastery over making a pattern, techniques regarding fabrics and garment construction, that give it an overall outlook like a profound understanding of the design principles, colour palettes, and fabric management.

For December at JD Institute, events were more than a month. It was more of testimony that young minds bring to the table, and with those young minds, their importance in education, and more importantly, the collaboration that gives power. With each event, workshop, and competition, the JD community reached closer to its goals of developing creativity, innovation, and growth. However, as we keep moving on through the lessons and memories December brings, so are we prepared to encounter new challenges and opportunities.
