On August 27th, 2024, graduation day, the atmosphere at The Koramangala Club in Bangalore wore an eventful appearance, with excitement, happiness, and the feeling of getting felicitated engulfing the aura as students of the JD Institute of Fashion Technology as they ascended the stage. It was a day for rumination about their journey, cheering their creativity, and entering into a promising future.

 A Journey from Idea to Masterpiece

This day signified the years of hard work, sleepless nights, and unlimited creativity for the graduating classes in fashion design, interior design, and jewellery design. It was the day to get their diploma and also the celebration of every sketch, every design idea, each piece of jewellery, and each piece of fabric that composed the process of growth.

One could sense the excitement as the students shared their experiences at JD: late-night design marathons, working on projects that tested their limits, and the camaraderie of shared experiences that had been built up. It was one such day when dreams came true and new ones were born.

 Fun Quirky Moments 

The graduation ceremony wasn’t a drag, in the least! True to JD style, the event had lots of fun and frolic moments in store. Some fun Q&A sessions brought out the playfulness of the day. Questions like “If your final project had a theme song, what would it be?” or “Which design tool became your best friend during sleepless nights?” revealed some funny and heartfelt answers that showed creative journeys were as much fun as hard work.

Parents were also getting in on the fun. Questions like “What did you first think when your child decided to become a designer?” really showed some good laughs and sweet stories, as families took time to reminisce about how it felt to see their child grow into a designer. 

Faculty Reflections: Nurturing Future Designers

The faculty members who have been guiding these students all these years, right from day one at JD Institute, shared the stories of their students’ transformation and growth. They said how each student grew as a person and as a designer. A considerable sense of pride was in the air as they saw their students come across the stage, knowing it was part of what they were doing and shaping the future design industry.

One faculty member recalled a memorable student project: “If the design studio could talk, it would have endless stories of creativity, stress, and laughter from this batch!” It was clear that these graduates were now fellow designers armed to face the world. A future full of possibilities: The day was to remember the bygone years and to simply set eyes on the infinite possibilities and horizons that open up in time to the coming future.

Today, the graduates of JD Institute of Fashion Technology trod in confidence to leave a mark on the world, whether in some fashion houses, interior design firms, or a unique piece of jewellery.

What they have acquired in terms of skills, honed innovative thinking, and personal growth will be the basics they will take with them moving into the workforce.
