An interior display that is being held along with a fashion show at three different venues on three different days in Hyderabad as a part of their Festival called Bunaai- Ek Ubharata Safar in partnership with Hyderabad Metro rail project, Galleria Mall and Premia Mall. This festival is an ode by our Interior design students to the local crafts of Telangana. This event is being held at Ameerpet metro station on 11th March, Galleria Mall on 13th March and finally at Premia Mall on 20th March. They chose multiple venues to allow people from various parts of the city to come and experience the work put up and showcased by the students.
The students have taken inspiration from local crafts like Cheriyal paintings and Macrame . Using these techniques, they have made a range of products for the display. Based on their learnings for spatial layout and design, they have arranged their products in an aesthetic manner to please the eyes of anyone visiting their display.
The interior design students have also re-created Cheriyal paintings which they used as wall paintings and home décor items. Apart from this, they also created products using Macrame like wall hangings, placemats, etc. All products are handmade by the students for this display from the Paintings, to the carpet and the design layout on site- All of it is done by our students. Their aim was to uplift the local crafts of Hyderabad by using their techniques in all the products they created and showing the young generation how beautiful they can look when incorporated within Interior decor and furnishings.
The process began with their mood boards, followed by initial layout and product ideas, and finally execution which was all handmade. Long hours were spent by the students in making the Cheriyal paintings and the display products.
Apart from the display organized by our Interior design students, JD Institute of Fashion Technology has also organized a block printing workshop where our very own jediiians have conducted the workshop for people curious about the technique and process along with a session wherein they get to create mini pieces to takeaway from this event. More than an event, students have turned it into a festival filled with fashion shows, displays and workshops.
To catch a glimpse of our Interior design students at their best and to see the beautifully handcrafted products made by them, head to the venues today!
