Ashes to Adornment – JD Design Awards 2024
The ‘Ashes to Adornment” fashion concept is rooted in the resilience of humanity through adversity. It finds its inspiration in dystopian literature, such as “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy, “The Hunger Games” series by Suzanne Collins, and “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley, touching narrowly on the themes of survival, the breakdown of society, and the human spirit so readily adapting. Films such as “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “Waterworld” add to the aesthetic visually of this rugged and innovative fashion across desolate landscapes. Real-life abandoned places, like Pripyat, Chornobyl, and the Salton Sea, lend a gut-wrenching view of nature reclaiming human civilization and make for a collection narrative of transformation and renewal.

Amidst desolation and a post-apocalyptic landscape, ‘ASHES TO ADORNMENT’ has to be that beacon of fantasy and will to resist; some time far ahead, when destruction arises, beauty does rise. Our clothes speak louder than self-expression; it is a symbol that unites people into the most formidable will to overcome and bring fresh hope and renewal to a world rising from the ashes of war.
As we work, stories unfold in whispered secrets of a world reborn from the ashes. Our collection speaks much beyond mere pieces of clothes; it’s a story of cheer to the human spirit triumphantly rising from despair. Every garment depicts a tale of survival, of perseverance that indomitable will to thrive against all odds.
