Art has always been an integral part of all human lives. Without art and culture, we would all be living an empty time. Moreover, one’s personality is also moulded according to the exposure to art. It also is an integral part of the design curriculum and helps the aspirants to understand the intricacies of design.
Appreciating this important aspect of every individual’s life, the budding designers who are pursuing their Diploma in Fashion Design June, 2022 Batch put out a successful exhibition. In the display the students dressed up in different costumes, taking inspiration from different timelines and cultures. The display was organised on 16th of September 2022 where the fashion design students apart from showcasing costume understanding, also put forth their work of the particular module.
The design aspirants were asked to dress dolls picking up inspiration from history. The students took different historical eras and explored the culture of that particular timeline, presenting it through costume design. The display was fun as well as informative where visitors had a walk through of different timelines of the history. The fashion design enthusiasts explored world history and presented their understanding of Mughal era, Victorian age, and more.
Moreover, to make it one of a kind, a special surprise was also there for the visitors. To appreciate different eras and history, the students also organised a poetry session where one of the aspiring designers spoke about women and their image during the old times.
The entire display was informative as the visitors visually learnt about different eras and the culture that prevailed then. The students also received huge appreciation for their exhibit from mentors and faculty members.
Exhibitions and Displays are an opportunity for the students to get exposure and present their talent to everyone. It is very important for a designer to understand the consumer psychology and market needs along with the knowledge of past trends.
At JD Institute of Fashion Technology, these activities are a part of curriculum and makes the aspiring designers industry ready alongwith teaching them about design, art and culture.
