Aspiring  Interior Designer Aravinth Harish A who is pursuing his MSc in Interior Design from JD School of Design, Bangalore presented his project ‘Adaptive Crossfit’ at JD Design Awards 2023- Bangalore edition. With his thoughtful project, Aravinth paid tribute to para-athlete Mariyappan Thangavelu.

CrossFit is a strength and conditioning workout that is made up of functional movement performed at a high intensity level. The designer gained interest in designing CrossFit for the people with disabilities and adaptive athletes. He researched how the CrossFit space is designed and how the equipment in CrossFit can be used by para-athletes. The designer learned about the standards and needs of the athletes to make the place handy and comfortable for them. He designed CrossFit in a way that gives positivity, hope and motivation to the athletes.

The main challenge that the designer faced while curating the project ‘Adaptive Crossfit’ was to design the CrossFit for the people with disability according to the standards and their needs.
