A session on Digital Pattern Making with Optitex | Fashion Department

JD Institute of Fashion Technology has been practising sustainability for over the years now. Digital pattern making is one such method that contributes to sustainability in the apparel industry. It is the future of apparel manufacturing. Recently, JD Institute organized a Digital Patternmaking workshop for the fashion department students with Optitex.

Optitex is a 26-year-old software company delivering 2D and 3D CAD/CAM solutions to the textile-related industries. They have gained a reputation for being the most innovative, user-friendly software on the market. Their Software helps the designers to develop their own avatar editor and bring an end to end solution to their customers. Mr. Prabhath and Mr. Shreedhar from the team briefed our students about the software, its advantages and the ways to use it.

By using this digital patterning software, students can convert the details of design directly into a pattern in minutes. It helps in customizing a particular body shape to know the exact drape and fit of the consumer/wearer. Implementing optitex will enable the students to cut the time of their design process and reduce the associated costs. Apart from the usages, the Fashion design students also received hands-on experience with the software.
