A Riff on Future Funk - JD Design Awards 2024
Chrysler Dias & Davina Rodriguesa are the students of Diploma in Fashion Design (JDI) and the collection is called A Riff on Future Funk. The collection is an ode to Future Funk combines future fiction with funk elements to create garments that reflect the evolution of funk in the future.
these are fictional insects which are chosen to present ingarment insects are Electric firefly,Butterfly,Bio inspired bees, caterpillar, spider, mantis, beetle, fly,scorpion. Design the wire sculptures to be worn over solidcoloured and structured garments, enhancing the overalllook. Material Selection: suitable materialsfor the wire sculptures is aluminium wire where the thicknessof the wire will be around 12 to 14 gauge.and for the garment will be used lachka fabric will be use forthe crisp and steady effect.

“A Riff to Future Funk” It embodies the spirit of funk music while incorporating futuristic elements, creating a dynamic, sleek and forward-thinking aesthetic. It aims to convey the core theme of funk music and it’s associated fashion outlook in a manner that evokes visions of humanity’s fashion choices to reflect society’s progresses since the genesis of funk fashion. The colours of Black, Silver, Purple, Pink and white were used as they are aligned with both funk music history and futuristic imagery.

It aims to convey the core theme of funk music and it’s associated fashion outlook in a manner that evokes visions of humanity’s fashion choices to reflect society’s progresses since the genesis of funk fashion. The collection targets forward thinking individuals, free spirited musicians, people with preferences for alternative lifestyles and funk music, as well as future fiction enthusiasts.
