It’s that auspicious time of year again, when India celebrates Navratri with great tradition. Navratri is a celebration of the divine feminine force and the victory of good over evil. It takes place for nine nights and is devoted to worshipping Goddess Durga in all of her incarnations, which stand for power, purity, and defence. Navratri also commemorates the victory of justice, symbolised by Goddess Durga’s victory over Mahishasura.

At JD Institute of Fashion Technology, we value diversity in culture and work to develop in our students and staff a sense of community and creativity. We can’t wait to bring the holiday spirit to life this year with a Garba extravaganza exclusively by our students.

Garba the Rhythmic claps, twirls, and colourful attire:

Gujarat is the birthplace of the age-old Garba dance. People came together to celebrate the exciting occasion in a setting so mesmerising, drawn together by the vibrant clothing, twirls, and rhythmic claps of this vibrant dance form. The Garba event on our campus gives JD Institute students a chance to display and share their artistic abilities.

The Jediiian Design Council proudly hosted an evening of Navratri celebrations on 9th October 2024 at JD Institute of Fashion Technology. An interesting session of storytelling that delved into the rich customs and significance of Navratri kicked off the celebrations of Navratri carried by a calm Saraswati Pooja later in the evening to invoke the blessings of creativity and wisdom. A lively dance performance was also presented to the attendees, laying the platform for an exciting Garba night.

Our students at JD Institute of Fashion Technology are trained to be future creative leaders as they take on this opportunity to showcase their creative designs through eye-catchy and festive outfits inspired by the colours and themes of Navratri. The celebration in the institute fosters a sense of community, cultural pride, and unity among all. This enables honouring our traditions while encouraging creativity to lead towards more inclusiveness. It indeed becomes a joyous occasion that brings in an education arithmetically balanced with just the right amount of cultural enrichment for fun times in college.
