Red Carpet- Trash to Treasure - JD Design Awards 2024

Sai Pednekar, Mohamed Raza and Riyaz Banducda are the students of Diploma in Fashion Design (JDI Goa) and the collection name is Red Carpet-  Trash to Treasure. Experiment with patchwork, paneling, layering, and embellishments to add visual interest and elevate the recycled materials into high-fashion garments.

these are fictional insects which are chosen to present ingarment insects are Electric firefly,Butterfly,Bio inspired bees, caterpillar, spider, mantis, beetle, fly,scorpion. Design the wire sculptures to be worn over solidcoloured and structured garments, enhancing the overalllook. Material Selection: suitable materialsfor the wire sculptures is aluminium wire where the thicknessof the wire will be around 12 to 14 gauge.and for the garment will be used lachka fabric will be use forthe crisp and steady effect.

The sub-theme TRASH TO TREASURE is centrally aligned with the main topic THE RED CARPET, by showcasing how discarded materials can be repurposed into something valuable and beautiful, highlighting the transformative potential of upcycling and recycling have been portrayed. A few have been designed to showcase the theme trash to treasure at its fullest by creating an outfits out of waste swatches highlighting the artistry skills at its best.

The garments were made out of unused or old curtains made from various fabrics like cotton, polyester, and satin. Denim fabrics were out of old jeans, denim scraps, or discarded denim fabric. Also discarded are car/bike seat covers with a colour palette of black, grey, white, light denim blue, dark denim blue. The topic itself represents the category of the collection which is more of message-centric, where most of the outfits could be worn in various occasions for an elegant wear during the spring and fall seasons. All in all the collection is the experiment with patchwork, paneling, layering, and embellishments to add visual interest and elevate the recycled materials into high-fashion garments.
