The Hindustan international furniture fair is India’s largest finished furniture show and the most important event in the Indian furniture industry. HIFF is an appropriate business-to-business (B2B) platform for entrepreneurs, consultants, decision-makers, and trade delegations to meet, brainstorm, and build important commercial partnerships. HIFF serves as a catalyst for the growth and development of the furniture industry by giving excellent experiences in business promotion and networking.
In addition, HIFF serves as a marketplace for all raw materials, cutting-edge equipment, machinery, and technology needed in the furniture manufacturing supply chain. HIFF provides a venue for launching new products, meeting new people, and maintaining existing relationships with more qualified customers and decision makers than any other event in India. The three-day event brings together dedicated people from the furniture business to address the growing demand for expansion and growth in the Indian furniture sector, with a special focus on Kerala.
On September 25,2023 JD Institute Of Fashion Technology Cochin organized a visit to the Hindustan Furniture Fair (HIFF), at Codissia Complex, Coimbatore, for the students of the interiors department, under the supervision of Mr. Emerald and Ms. Christeena James -Faculty for Interiors Department.
Students from various batches of BSc Interior Design and Diploma in Interior Design had a great learning experience from this particular fair that occurred in Coimbatore where they had an understanding on
- Product Knowledge where they learned about furniture design, materials, and manufacturing processes,
- Networking Opportunities that could help them Connect with professionals and potential mentors in the industry.
- Market Research Insights, where data on consumer preferences and market trends was gathered, Supplier and Manufacturer Contacts were obtained in order to build relationships with possible suppliers.
- Product evaluation was also performed to assess furniture quality, usefulness, and aesthetics.
- Material sourcing insights were gathered, which assisted them in identifying prospective materials and suppliers for projects.
There were a number of stalls set up where various types of materials were displayed. These included furniture, different door handle types, home decor, and swatches of various types of marble and tiles.
For a better learning experience, the decades-old JD Institute of Fashion Technology in Cochin believes in planning such hands-on exposure. The HIFF visit was a fruitful outside-of-classroom learning opportunity that gave students the chance to speak with business owners, consultants, policy makers, and trade delegations while learning about their wares.
