Metaverse has become a quotidian term and the fashion industry is enrolling in it at a fast pace. At JD Design Awards 2022, designers showcased different ways to put forth their idea about syncing with nature. One such collection that explored the evolution of the human race and the future of humanity in the lap of nature in sync with technology is Metakine.

Metakine is a collection of ten garments that draws inspiration from the kinetic sculptures and colours of metaverse that also depicts the technologically driven liquid society. The designers behind this collection are Shruthika and Priyadarshini R who have pursued their BSc. in Fashion and Apparel Design from JD Institute of Fashion Technology. For their collection the designers chose the colours like violet, dark shades of pink, black and blue.

Each of the garments presented a unique structure. “The core design principle is balancing the visual weight between movement and structure, aesthetically to complement the design”, said the designers when asked about their unique collection that is crafted with utter futuristic thoughts.

Future is about sustainability. Each and every individual of today’s time is working in a direction to create an environment that is liveable and for growth. Going ahead on the similar lines, the designers used recycled fabrics for their collection that reduces waste generation. Moreover each of the garments are fitted with unique edgy designs that are curated out of waste material. To highlight the idea effectively, the designer minds added strips of lights and further enhanced their collection visually.

JD Design Awards is a platform that channelises and acknowledges the bold and problem solving steps of the future designers. In order to encourage and give the right recognition to the designers, the award ceremony also presented the Best Metaverse Design Award to Metakine collection.

Collection
